So looking forward to playing with this thing :meoweyes:

@moiety Nice! Love to see someone using CPL filters too 👀

@moiety I love that camera! My old uni's film lab has a few and they're excellent video and still cameras. Plus Sony log format is great for color grading and editing and the low light performance is top notch for the price. Have fun!!

@madds thank you! I’ll mostly use it for stills but am also curious to try the film options! And yes log3(?) seems interesting to work with!

@madds any quirks or pro tips? 👀

@moiety I usually call it slog for Sony log (logarithmic color grading) it's great for video or photo since it's very neutral and doesn't artificially blow anything out.

It can get kind of hot and chew through batteries when filming, but aside from that it's a very solid camera! I've never actually used one for stills, but the settings can be confusing, so take some time to learn if you're not used to Sony cameras. 1/2

@moiety For different lenses it can be good to get a metabones adapter to use Nikon or Canon lenses with it, since especially Canon EF/EF-S lenses work great on that camera (they're not cheap adapters, but keep auto focus and other electronic features like OIS working, but there might be similar ones by different brands for cheaper) They also have ones that can be powered to increase the shutter speed too, but I've never used that feature (2/2)

@madds thank you for the tips! I’m looking to get the 70-200 from Sony and have stocked up on batteries already 🤓.

Ive queued up some videos that go over the settings, because damn 🥲

@moiety of course!

That lens is amazing tbh, I love it, best all around lens I've ever used! Great for photography and film, the only thing it doesn't do is macro :ablobcathappypaws:

The good thing is once you learn the UI for a Samsung dslr pretty much all of them even up to fancy film cameras like the FS 5 / 7 use basically the same interface, very much "you've learned it once now you know them all" sort of thing
